hi there, it's shuu again smile i have went through your website a some more and read some of your work (which by the way is very entertaining, kudos!). i have seen you mention in your "Digital minimalism, degoogling and such" post that you would like to watch youtube through a client, and since that post is fairly older id like to first ask you how that's going, and recommend you some routes that you might fancy (if you dont already know about them:quietsmile. i personally use SmartTube on my android TV and i think it works on any android device, i used to use Invidious on my ios ipad as well. i would also like to share the Free Media Heck Yeah domain in case you dont know about it: specifically this bit: that includes some resources for youtube clients free of ads and invasive algorithms nono have a good day again rose

thanks! I've actually found at least one good youtube client for desktop (FreeTube), which works...variably. But thanks for the other recommendations, I'll have to keep them in mind. I'm familiar with FMHY, there's definitely some interesting stuff there. I've actually reached some of my "goals" mentioned in the digital minimalism post. I got rid of music streaming, in favour of CDs (i've become a frequent visitor at the cd shelves of thrift stores...) and digital downloads (bandcamp and other ways). AND I sort of don't use instagram anymore as the browser-based browsing started to have unexpected problems. So, yay

bouncey hello!!! thank you so much for linking my website on your links page!! i'm just now responding to messages on my guestbook after months, but i really enjoyed clicking through your webpage - and especially reading your writing. your thoughts on internet aesthetics were a good read. humans have a natural tendency to categorize things. i read something a long time ago about the development of categorization with language (our brains work by looking at a thing and comparing it to another thing and going. that is not that thing. looking at a cat and a redwood and going: "those are definitely two different things". but we can categorize them both as living things, or as animal and plant. or as mammal and tree. so having terms for specific aesthetics is very human!! personally though, i think aesthetics are nice for articulating personal taste - but i get kinda irritated when things get broken down into just the image and the history and meaning is forgotten (the history of punk, for example). you go into this briefly in your "we live in a society" section. i agree that not everything has to become your identity smile i could probably keep writing about this forever hahaha, but i'll stop here. thanks again for visiting my site!!!

Thank you! Great that the aesthetics text has appealed to you. I sort of think it's a mess, but I try to approach it as a starting point for more coherent future writings. Cool cool
